How many poker chips would I need to buy for 6 people?

I am looking to buy chips of 5, 10, 25, 50, 100.

For around 6-10 people how many should I buy?

They come in red blue and white so its according how much money you want each player to start out with.

You make the chips the dollar amount you want. We start out with $600,000 to play Texas Holdem since we are playing for 6 hours. Once your out of chips your out of the game

That really depends on a lot of things…just a few of them:

    1) How much you expect each player to start with and whether it can differ for each
    2) Whether this is a cash-game or tournament-type structure
    3) Whether rebuys are allowed
    4) If holdem, the blind structure and whether it changes over time

First, I would recommend that you only buy 4 colors and cut out the $50 chips. It will save you money and there is no need for that middle step. You could even cut out $10 chips, but I leave that to you.

I would recommend getting about 100 chips of each denomination, or maybe a little less for the $100 chips. That will give you more than enough for the 6-person game or the 10-person game. Usually, you only want to give each player about 8 of each denomination, maybe 10 at most. Otherwise, there are too many chips on the table and it can get messy if someone wins a lot of chips or if you are playing a tourney and people are busting out.

It should be fairly easy to find a cheap 400-chip set with four colors. Good luck.

If you get a set of around 500 poker chips, this should be plenty for your needs. You could even get away with as few as 300, but I would go for 500.

Minimum of 300 chips. Anything less and it would be too awkward. Above that, the more the better basically
