Is it gambling if you use poker chips in card games?
In my school, me and some friends were playing Texas Hold ‘em at our lunch table. The principal said to put it up or he would take it from us. We were using chips but we hadn’t put any money on the game and the chips would be returned at the end of the game, so, would that still be considered Gambling?

No, but that doesn’t stop the principal from being able to tell you that you can’t play the game.
It is if you use money. If you use chips, but then later exchange money, it’s still gambling. I bet you’re exchanging money later. It’s an old loophole. When gambling was illegal, they would put slot machines in bars and award patrons mints, then the bartender would reach into the register and slip the person their winnings under the table.
yes it can be considered gambling your making a bet .. even though no money is involved
I wouldn’t consider it gambling since there was no money involved, but it is common for gambling games such as poker to be banned from schools, regardless of whether there is money used or not.
unless you’re exchanging something as a reward for winning the game it’s just a card game
succumbing to the threats of nazi’s is never a good idea.
they’ll just keep asking for more and more.
see: liberals and neo-cons.
It’s only gambling if there’s money on the table.
Your principal may not think it’s appropriate for students to practice a game that is designed for gambling. Unfortunately, he has the authority to ban faux gambling.
we got caught for that too but we used just a peace of paper to keep tabs – what are you really going to do about it – you can complain but it probably won’t get you anywhere
